Support a Community

If you choose to support a community, you’re choosing to support the community as a whole. From projects that provide essential water and sanitation to programs that improve long-term economic outcomes, we cover a broad range of initiatives that aim to build communities where children can thrive.

Good Barber

Through the Good Barber Project, disadvantaged youth are given a chance to expand their skill set and maximise their potential through vocational training.

WASH Project

Good health begins with children taking care of their hygiene. Through a holistic approach, we provide communities with proper water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) interventions.

How to Give

Good Neighbours Australia supports community development initiatives locally and internationally. When you give a recurring donation to support community projects, your contribution will be allocated to a range of ongoing initiatives.

Your support will be directed to various infrastructure projects, dedicated training programs and provision of resources, all with the view to making communities more self reliant, resilient and sustainable for the long-term.

Good Neighbours Australia - Ukraine

The support of Good Neighbours is invaluable. When Ukrainians receive gifts like this, it helps them feel welcome in Australia. When they come here and see people doing good things, like Good Neighbours, they feel very thankful.

Good Neighbours Australia adheres to the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) Code of Conduct, which is recognised as good practice in NGO management. All donations $2 and over are tax deductible.

Questions?

While our Global Good Neighbours Partnership operates in 41 field countries around the world, Good Neighbours Australia is particularly focused on supporting projects in Asian countries including Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Bangladesh and Cambodia. However, we maintain strong relationships with all our partner countries under the same umbrella, and whenever there is an urgent need in the community, we are willing to allocate our funds based on the urgency of the projects.
At Good Neighbours Australia protecting the rights and well-being of children in need is at the heart of what we do. So, the majority of our community development projects will focus on delivering programs which benefit children, support their families and strengthen the communities they live in.
When you pledge to support a community, your donation will be directed to urgent projects in need for one of our community partners. This could include the development of educational facilities, training programs, healthcare services, access to water and sanitation infrastructure or creation of social enterprises, with the view to enhancing community sustainability and self-reliance.
Some of our current programs include the: Good Barber project, bringing vocational hairdresser training to students in Vietnam; the school bike project in Vietnam, supplying bikes for students to get to school; and the WASH hygiene education program being delivered in multiple communities. And whenever an emergency response is needed, such as a disaster, the funds are sent to help the impacted people first.
Good Neighbours Australia processes 90% or more of all funds generated in Australia and remits them to the field office in charge of the project based on priority.
Project reports will be published by Good Neighbours Australia twice a year, providing progress reports on how the funds have been spent and the key outcomes of the initiatives. These reports will be sent to donors and updated to our website for reference.
You can support an existing program or community, or we can even work with donors to develop new opportunities to align with their key objectives. If you have a particular country, community or type of program you’d like to support, please let us know. Otherwise, your donation will be allocated to one of our priority projects.
