Two devastating earthquakes struck Türkiye and Syria early 2023. Good Neighbours stepped in immediately to provide shelter, food, water, and basic hygiene supplies. In partnership with Good Neighbours Mozambique, we found that 40% of schools don't have access to fresh drinking water. We conducted a geological survey and selected Urrene, Inhambane as a location to install a bore water pump to serve the school and local community, providing drinking water for 309 students and 113 community members.

One Family, Two Pigs, Endless Possibilities 2022

In Year 2 of this project, Good Neighbours Australia doubled our support, providing 20 households with two black sow pigs. The pigs are easy to raise in a short time and provide substantial income for families, with 2 pigs generating approx US$300 per household. These donations supported 46 adults and 42 children across 20 households in Quang Binh, Vietnam.

Bangladesh was severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and the country was going through a third wave of infections. Hai Dong Hand Sanitiser Project 2021

Hai Duong Province in Vietnam was one of the most severely impacted during the pandemic experiencing a 4th wave of infections in April 2021. Thanks to our donors and corporate partner, Sinicare we provided 56,000 units of sanitiser to hospitals, medical staff, police, volunteers, and the public. There were over 30 hospitals and organisations supporting distribution.

One Family, Two Pigs, Endless Possibilities 2021

This project provided 10 families from Quang Binh province with two domesticated black sow pigs. The pigs eat food scraps and garden waste and each sow can bear 8-12 piglets twice a year. A fully grown pig weighs approx 80kg and can earn families approx 8 million VND (US$447). Allowing them to generate income well above the US$55 monthly average income.

Gift-in-kind Hand Sanitiser Project 2021
Sri Lanka
Students and Teachers in Sri Lanka have been significantly disadvantaged with some schools remaining closed for 18 months during the pandemic. With our corporate partner Sinicare, Good Neighbours Australia provided 15,800 hand sanitisers to schools in the Western Province, helping them to provide a safe environment for teachers and students returning to school.

COVID-19 had a disproportionate impact on lower socio-economic communities across India. Our Christmas Appeal for 2021 provided bicycles to 30 disadvantaged children in Quang Binh District, Ha Giang Province in Northern Vietnam. The bicycles will help them get to school, visit family and use them for play.
