Clean Hands for #GoodChange: Partnership with Soap Aid

Did you know that the simple act of handwashing with soap is one of the most effective ways to prevent communicable diseases?

As a development organisation, Good Neighbours aims to support the protection of vulnerable children and adults by ensuring their rights are met, including the right to good health and access to appropriate hygiene. But we can’t do this alone.

That’s why, we’re delighted to highlight our newest partnership with an Australian organisation called Soap Aid, who are dedicated to providing access to soap for communities in need around the globe.

About Soap Aid

Soap Aid is an Australian non-profit organisation whose mission is to improve hygiene practices and reduce waste soap simultaneously. Through their circular economy initiative “Hotel to Hands” programme, they collect, sort, and reprocess waste soap into hygienic soap bars that are then supplied to vulnerable communities, free of charge. They support community partners to distribute the soap and provide hygiene education programs that aim to promote proper handwashing practices,  essential to reducing hygiene-related illnesses and deaths.

Our Partnership

In 2024, Soap Aid generously provided more than 46,000 bars of soaps for our Winter Warmer Appeal that will benefit orphans, refugees, displaced people and war-affected communities from Ukraine.

These displaced people, now sheltering in places like orphanages and community-based  facilities in both Ukraine and Romania, will be benefitting from the gifts. The soap will be distributed along with thousands of items of warm clothing and 3,000 blankets generously provided by Australian donors.

Get involved

You too can make a difference. Donate $30 today and help a Ukrainian refugee in Romania to have access to hot food, psychosocial programs, and peer support. Every individual donation counts, so please consider supporting this project generously. Make a one-off tax-deductible donation today.

Thank you!
