Stories of #GoodChange
Supporting our neighbours this Christmas
The holiday season is here! While it’s a time of joy and celebration, it’s also an opportunity to reflect on the true spirit of Christmas—giving back and supporting those in need. This season, let’s work together to make #GoodChange in the lives of those facing challenges both locally and globally. By choosing to support a community with Good Neighbours Australia, you can extend the holiday cheer to those who need it most.
Help send gifts to displaced Ukrainians and refugees
“Everything is here, but the pain for home remains forever,” Bohdanova, 73, shares the struggle that they face as Ukrainian refugees, now located in Australia. Bohdanova is one of those affected by the war in Ukraine who will be spending Christmas longing for their homes and families.
The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has displaced millions and left countless families in dire need. Supporting campaigns that provide humanitarian aid can offer relief to those affected. Good Neighbours works with the local government, NGOs, civil society organisations and international organisations in Romania and Ukraine to provide shelter, food, medical assistance, transportation support and psychosocial services to conflict-affected individuals.
As part of our Winter Warmer Appeal, we are sending a 40-foot shipping container full of warm clothes, blankets and hygiene items to be gifted to displaced Ukrainians, including orphaned children in our care. When you give today, we will also be able to provide funds for hot food and psychosocial support for children in time for winter.
Support our emergency relief efforts in the Middle East
The Middle East, particularly regions like Gaza and Lebanon, continues to face humanitarian crises. The needs are immense and complex, but Good Neighbours is working with organisations on the ground to bring much-needed relief to those affected by the conflict. When you give today, you will be supporting an emergency response program providing much-needed access to essential supplies particularly to displaced families and persons with disabilities.
Get into the Christmas spirit
As we prepare for the holiday season, let’s remember that our actions can make a difference in the lives of our neighbours in need. By choosing to support a community this Christmas, we not only bring comfort to others but also enrich our own lives, engendering a sense of community and compassion.
Why not lend a hand to those less fortunate this Christmas? After all, that’s what good neighbours are for.
