Child Sponsorship: At the Heart of Community

Child Sponsorship: Xuan's Story | Girl wearing red sweater laughing

Meet five-year-old Xuan, who’s one of more than 17,400 children who’ve been supported through our child sponsorship programs in Vietnam.

While meeting individual children’s health, nutrition and education needs is at the heart of our child sponsorship programs, we also ensure their families have access to safe housing and income generation programs.

By providing wrap-around support to empower families and strengthen the communities they live in, our sponsored children can ultimately thrive.

Xuan's Story

Whenever it rained, Xuan and her little brother watched intently as water poured onto the roof of their make-shift shanty home. She’d tuck herself into a corner, listening to the rain and wind, wondering whether water would flow across the floor, the walls would stay up, or the roof would collapse.

Xuan’s old house had been in the family for many generations. While it was a place which held many fond memories for the family, a visit from the Good Neighbours team in Vietnam confirmed the house was unsafe and at risk of collapsing.

Now, thanks to the generosity of Good Neighbours’ donors, Xuan’s home has been rebuilt. Xuan and her family feel safe and secure. Every time it rains, they no longer  have to get leaves to spread over the wet floor – they just relax and enjoy listening to the rain on the roof.

Make a life-changing difference, for a child like Xuan

Being a Good Neighbours sponsored child, Xuan’s fundamental health, nutrition, education and other essential needs are being met, and she’s thriving in her new home.

We have many more children, like Xuan, who need such support. Why not sponsor a child today, and make a difference that will last a lifetime?
