Setting Up in Sydney:
Distributions for Displaced Ukrainians
Since the invasion of Ukraine in February, 6.3 million people have fled their homes.*
The world watched on in disbelief as Ukrainian people were forced to uproot their everyday lives and seek refuge in neighbouring countries.
Australia has welcomed 8,500 displaced Ukrainians since February.
But whilst the news cycles moved on, this is not the end of their story.

Thanks to our generous donors and corporate partners, Good Neighbours Australia is supporting displaced Ukrainian people in Sydney by distributing grocery vouchers and essential living items.

Small Act; Big Impact
It’s our great pleasure to pass on stories of thanks from the Ukrainian community.
Thank you for helping me and my daughter. She is thirteen. When we came from Ukraine we only had one backpack bag for both of us. We could not take anything from our home. We have the clothes we were wearing and some very small items. Thank you for the clothes and support because we really need this … we feel so happy today, you help us celebrate in our community.

[At the distribution] I spoke to a lovely woman and her young daughter. She collected some socks from us and she was so grateful – quite teary-eyed actually. She explained that when they were in Ukraine, her daughter really wanted some socks. They had ordered some online but they didn’t arrive before they had to flee. She was just so moved and grateful to finally be able to get some socks for her daughter.

The support of Good Neighbours is invaluable, we had queues out the door. When Ukrainians [receive] donations such as this, it helps them feel welcome in Australia … so when they come here and see people doing good things, like Good Neighbours, they feel very thankful.
